Start with the clearest settings
For a first puzzle, try the Maximum clarity preset in the generator. It combines a 10 × 10 grid, Extra large print, and Easy directions. You can then adjust the words or switch to a 12 × 12 grid if you want a longer activity.
- Extra large print gives letters more visual room.
- Easy directions keep words across or down instead of adding diagonals.
- A 10 × 10 grid is often a comfortable starting point for a short list.
Make the activity personal
Use familiar words connected to a hobby, a season, a family event, or a group activity. A custom list can make the puzzle feel more approachable while keeping the same clear printable format.
Print a puzzle and answer key
Choose US Letter or A4, review the preview, and print at 100% for the intended size. PrintFind prepares a separate answer key so a caregiver or activity leader can help without marking the puzzle itself.
Reduce visual clutter
A readable puzzle is easier to approach when the page has enough white space and the word list is not too long. Start with familiar words, use a larger print setting, and choose Easy directions when diagonal or backward words would add unnecessary difficulty.
